Calnaga Explained

Set Apart

by Steve Perry on 03/27/13

My latest project is a fictitious nostalgia funny car called Bad Cracker and you can see it in the Gallery.  It is very deep on technical detail which set it apart at the Detroit Autorama contest last weekend.  In fact, I've never swept a contest like this last one: Best Comp In-Line, Best Interior, Best Engine, Best Finish, Best Detail, and Best in Show.  Wow! I didn't expect that, but as I looked at the competition one question came up again and again?  Where is the technical detail?  It seems that contest entries and contest judges are putting a huge emphasis on paint jobs, but ignoring the detail level that makes an exceptional all around model.  So lay down a good coat of paint and maybe some stripes.  Clear coat it and polish it nicely.  But add some realistic functional detail and your model will be set apart, maybe enough to earn a trophy.  Calnaga Castings has some new products to help with your technical detail.  Check out the Oil Filter Adapter in the High Performance section.  The master for this part is on the Bad Cracker.  We also have a new Borg Warner Transfer Case in the 4x4 and Powertrain section.
